Brian Sedlacek was a Gulfwood Gator swimmer in the early 1980's. He lived with his family - his parents, older sister Kelly, and younger brother David on Sunnydale Road. Chad Harwell Spirit Award for 11 & Up Swimmers
(In loving memory November 11, 1971 - May 27, 1984)

Chad Harwell was a Gulfwood Gator swimmer in the early 1980's. He lived with his family - his parents, older sister Lisa, and younger brother Daniel on Plainfield Road. When Chad was 10 years old, he developed cancer and was treated for some time at St. Jude's in Memphis. Even when he was sick and unable to participate, Chad was a big supporter of the Gulfwood Gators swim team, cheering his teammates on. Chad passed away in May 1984, at the beginning of the summer swim season, and the chad Harwell spirit award was given to both a 10 & under and 11 & up swimmer that year. After the creation of the Brian Sedlacek spirit award for 10 & under swimmers the following summer, it was then givento an 11 & up swimmer who gives his/her all - his/her enthusiasm, best effort and encouragement for the Gulfwood Gator swim team.

 Jim Farmer Volunteer Award
(In Loving Memory)

The Jim Farmer Volunteer Award was created in 1994 to honor a parent volunteer who goes above and beyond for our Gulfwood Gator swim team. Jim lived with his wife, Jo, and three children - Vicky, Valerie, and Kenny - on Sunnydale Road.  All three of his children were Gulfwood Gators and he was very active and involved with the swim team for many years. He developed lung cancer in the spring of 1992 and lost his battle in March 1994. This volunteer award is dedicated to him in honor of the devotion, time, and effort he gave to both his own children and the swimmers of the Gulfwood Gator swim team.
